Who We Are?

Spider stitches is owned and run by an artists that is inspired by nature, history and fantasy.
How did we decide on the name spider stitches?
We are inspired by nature’s most splendid artist, the spider, and dedicated our namesake to these marvelous animals in their honor.
We pour lots of love into each item we create and by supporting our store you help a small Texas based women’s business that is focused on helping wildlife, nature and education.
What We Do?

We specialize in embroidered artwork, sew on and iron on patches, wall tapestries, lace ornaments, jewelry and embroidery machine designs. Every item we make is our own and every item we make is made in our shop here in the hill country of Boerne Texas.
Our patches are high quality artwork and cost a bit more than most patches.
Our Patches are Different Than Other Patches Because They Are:
100% Embroidered- Most patches on the market today are only are between 10 to 35 percent embroidered so they have a background that is made of a nylon or twill backing. The patches that are not 100% embroidered are sew onto a recycled felt material and are clearly marked in the item descriptions.
Earthy and People Friendly- All our items are made with environmental and human welfare consciences. The textile market can be very damaging to the environment as well as hard on human welfare. All the thread and fabric we use are fair trade and eco friendly. These are much more expensive than unsustainable products but it is worth the extra cost. We do not send any of our items to be mass produced by foreign vendors. We create all of our items in our shop in Boerne Texas.
Support Conservation- We have donated over 15% of our sales to these conservation organizations as well as countless hours and patches for fundraisers. We do not advertise all of these organizations on our website because the list is quite extensive. Many of these projects do not directly work with spiders but it is the idea that supporting large species will save habitat for our favorite invertebrates and other smaller less charismatic animals.
Original Designed Artwork- We sew embroidered artwork. The process to make each patch design is quite time consuming. They all start with a hand drawn design. We never copy an exact logo or picture. (unless requested) Instead these items will be redrawn. This grantees they fit the unique style of our shop. We focus on natural shapes for example if you buy a shark patch it will be the shape of a shark. This process can take many hours to complete. Once the design is perfected then it is loaded on to an embroidery machine and the appropriate thread colors selected. Between color matching and sewing this process can take as little as 1 hour for a small design up to as long as half a day for the largest, most complex ones. After the sewing is completed then it must be cut off the cloth backing and adhesive applied. Each patch is then cut out by hand. Every item in our shop is designed, sewn, hand cut out and shipped by two artist and a few cups of tea. Needless to say we pour a lot of love into our patches.
High Quality Materials- Not only are our items sustainable and unique they are high quality, strong and beautiful. Each patch sew from high quality materials that do not easily fade or fray. Each item is scrutinized before it is shipped to guarantee that you will receive only the best products. They are strong enough to be added to a martial arts gee or hiking backpack but elegant enough for a wedding gown or prom dress. We have had some of our customers comment that our patches have outlived the garments they were originally used on. You will have these patches for many years to come.
